12 bar blues – an easy exercise
A really great way to learn how to improvise is by first, playing the chords
of a 12 bar blues, then improvising over the top of the chord sequence.
This experience will help prepare you for more complicated songs and
rhythms soon to to come.
We will be concentrating on playing a 12 bar guitar solo. For this we need
a pentatonic scale.
This will involve knowledge of both chords and modes.
If you aren't familiar with either concept please read the Modes and Chords
section of The Music Reader's Toolbox before continuing.
